So I haven’t posted anything lately. This is partly because I was caught up in NaNoWriMo (I won, but only by not sticking to a single project, which is still a win in my book) but also because I’ve been distracted by a number of other things. But I’m back! And I have plans.

My current goal is to finish Summer at Hotel Fulcrum. All the parts are written, but I’m now in the process of editing the entire thing, which includes some major changes since I had new ideas rather late in writing the first draft. So the parts that I have already posted are probably going to look a little different at the end of the month. I’m also going to post these every week now, since there are three parts left, and after this week, three weeks until the end of the year. If all goes according to plan, I will have accomplished my goal of finishing this project by the end of the year.

I’ve never had a complete first draft of this length before, so editing is an interesting process. I’ve printed out a copy of the draft, and am in the middle of going over it and taking notes of anything I think needs to be changed. It’s a daunting task, but also unexpectedly satisfying. I have all the pieces of the puzzle now, so I’m just looking at how they fit together — shaving some of the corners so they fit, adding bits to other pieces because they are more important. I have a feeling the second stage of actually making the changes (some of which will involve writing entirely new scenes) will be more of a slog, but for now I’m having fun.

Look at all the fun I’m having!
